Almost Identical

[Kudo Yukiko]

Admittedly, Yukiko was excited and inwardly, she mischievously grinned as her Jaguar E-Type pulled in front of the Café Poirot building. If Shinichi was home she wanted to see his initial reaction to Kaito-kun. She even wondered if he would even remember Kaito-kun from when he was little.

Grocery shopping was done swiftly and if allowed Yukiko even offered to pay for the groceries. After all, in Yukiko's mind, she owed the Mouris a whole lot for taking care of Shinichi while he was child-sized. Fortunately for Kaito-kun, Yukiko actually obeyed the speed limit this time, knowing Ran-chan's own distaste for her speed demon driving.

"We're here!" Yukiko said happily, getting out of the car and the trunk of the Jaguar with her keys.

"Ahh! That's right, I forgot to text Subaru-san that we won't be home…" Yukiko face palmed at the realization when they arrived, taking out her phone as she sent him a quick text message. How could she have forgotten about him? Once she was finished she placed the phone back into her pocket and helped unload the groceries from the trunk.

[Mouri Ran]

It was already dark when Yukiko had pulled to a stop in front of the Mouri Detective Agency and there was still enough time to prepare dinner, and all without speeding. Personally, Ran was thankful that Shinichi's mother had been driving at a normal speed, unlike her usual driving habits. She exited the car with a sigh of relief and then she walked to the trunk to unload the groceries.

She had forgotten about the other person residing at the Kudo mansion. Ran perked up at the mention of his name and then she turned to the other female in the group.

"Oh, no, I could have invited him over with us. I forgot he was there as well." And she made a mental note to apologize to him the next time they meet. "Do you mind if I prepare him something for you to take home later tonight? I feel bad for leaving him behind."

Ran carried one bag of groceries while her other hand fished for her house keys. Twisting the metal on the lock, the door clicked open and the light from inside the little apartment peeked through the door.

"Tadaima!" she called out to the quiet house. Ran let the two guests enter the doorway before closing and locking it once again. "Kitchen's this way, Yukiko-san. Make yourselves at home. Would you like anything for now while I make dinner?"

"Actually Ran-chan, if he agrees, maybe it'd be easier to have him come over here?" Yukiko suggested, sending Subaru-san a text message inviting him over. "Subaru-san wasn't home when earlier…I guess that's why I forgot!" Yukiko sighed. It wasn't that big of a deal though considering Subaru-san was already out, who knows if he'd already eaten?

"Besides," Yukiko was a bit surprised to find the quiet house, expecting Kogoro-kun to be roaming about somewhere unless he was at the agency. "Are you sure that Kogoro-kun didn't go out?" She wondered where Shinichi was too unless they would join them later.

Yukiko would follow Ran-chan with her bag of groceries, and due to the light load that they carried, had closed and locked the trunk before heading upstairs.

"And I'm fine!" Yukiko said, placing the groceries on the kitchen countertop.

"That's even better! I heard from the Detective Boys that Subaru-san is a great cook. Maybe I could learn a thing or two from him,"

And then Ran looked around the otherwise quiet place. Yes, it was too quiet. Usually her father would come around shouting for dinner a this time around. "He said he'd be home but," Ran pulled out her phone and saw a new unread message had arrived a few minutes ago. She began to read it and started to furiously type a reply back.

"Mou, outou-san, even after I already mentioned dinner plans... I can't believe him! I just won't leave dinner for him when he gets home."

Ran thanked Yukiko for the help with the groceries and started to take the pans and pots out along with the kitchen knives. "No? I'll just get some hot tea ready then while you wait." Just as Ran started on boiling the water for the tea, she asked Yukiko, "so what did Subaru-san say? Is he joining us for dinner?"

Yukiko smiled gleefully when she heard Ran-chan. "That means a lot to me, Ran-chan!" She laughed. "Subaru-san never told you how he learned to cook?"

She couldn't really blame him, being a private person. But hearing this from Ran-chan made Yukiko happy. It still wasn't enough to get her to be cooking regularly though, Yukiko was admittedly still lazy in that regard.

"That Kogoro-kun…" Yukiko shook her head when she heard Ran-chan. She honestly wondered if Kogoro-kun even expected a meal upon his return for doing something like that!

Yukiko would then check her own phone to see Okiya's response. "Oh! Looks like Subaru-san'll be joining us, so it all works out! Subaru-san could just have Kogoro-kun's portion!"
