Bored.

That was all that went through Heiji's mind. He was bored, beyond bored even. He could feel his brain cells slowly decaying in his mind as he no longer had mental stimulation. Of course the past few days had been crazy and all that. With rescuing Kudo from a crazy guy and almost being blown up. His head and ribs gave a sharp jolt. Reminding him of the injuries he had obtained. He had been released from the hospital this morning a few stitches in his forehead covered by a gauze pad. His ribs wrapped up tight so no further injury could come to the severely bruised, also some of the cartilage had been torn. But there could be nothing done about that besides pain medication. To be honest the latter had happened before to him so he was used to it. It was just annoying because he couldn't take in a deep breath or turn properly.

He also had some burns on his back from falling debris so he was laying on his stomach in the lounge area. A book placed on the floor beside the couch he was on and Heiji resting his chin on the top of his hand which rested on a pillow. He heard movement through out the house but it just seemed like people settling down for a relaxing evening. He also heard the pitter patter of rain falling on the roof. It seemed like a down pour if he could hear it on the first floor.

Groaning he sat up. He didn't want to read anymore. That's what he's been doing all day. So now, Heiji figured he might as well find some cards to play with. Maybe Kaito had some after all he was a magician. Hopefully the guy wouldn't mind if Heiji played Solitare with them.

Getting up from the couch Heiji headed towards the entrance. Kaito should be in his room right? Well it would probably be best to start there anyways for the guy.

One two, into the air, behind his back, under his leg, up into the air again, turn- oh for god sake. Miscalculation, the he got the angle wrong by an degree there. Again. Bounce it off the wall, three, four, turn, and there!

The colored pingpong balls he had been bouncing around the room all came back to his hand; in the order of the colors of the rainbow, and he started juggling them, adding more colors as he did. Now, how did he trigger the ending routine again? Snap of fingers, the balls exploded into confetti and coated the floor of the room.

There we go. That would be an ass to clean up later but that didn't mean he had to clean it up now.

Doing a backflip in the air just for the sake of it and nearly slipping on the confetti, Kaito stumbled a bit as he regained his bearings, hand flying to the door knob to steady himself. Too much practice for one day? Nah, there was no such thing as that, but he could use a drink.

Picking up the cards he had left scattered thoughtlessly on the bedside table (three of hearts, nine of spades- no wait, it's 6 of clovers, isn't it, imaginary guest -san?) he started shuffling them as he went down the stairs to get a drink- No wait, cut the cards here, pan it, push it under the deck , there we go-

Chugging down the glass of water, Kaito hummed- maybe he'd visit Hattori? Prank the heck out of him, the bore was doing nothing and he hadn't heard a peep out of him since forever. Reading one of those Holmes books, no doubt, like all detectives in this house seemed to do.

Wait, no, there he is! The guy was actually up and about.

"Yo, Hattori-san!" Kaito said cheerfully. "Lovely day for a walk, isn't it?"

Heiji winced as he turned to come face to face with the person he was looking for. He offered Kaito a smile and a wave with his free hand.

"Kuroba-kun," He greeted and when the silence fell between the two the hush of rain was easily heard. "Ya, if yer a fish it'll be a lovely day for a walk."

Heiji had heard from Yukiko that the poor guy had a phobia of fish and really this was just Heiji testing that information. He hoped the guy wouldn't completely freak out on Heiji because right now he hurt to much to deal with something like that.

So in hindsight it might have been a bad idea to mention fish at all.

Anyways on to more pressing matters like finding a way to cure his boredom.

"So, whatcha up ta Kaito before strollin around the house?"

Kaito fumbled with the glass of water in his hand when he heard the four lettered f word that wasn't used as a swear; shit shit shit, did Hattori-san know he was afraid of fish or had it just been a coincidence? Just a coincidence, the dreaded ....thing wasn't here anyway, Kaito, it was just a word.

"Yeah,"

Kaito laughed nervously, trying not to visualize the aquatic animal in his mind's eye.

"But the weather shouldn't dictate your outdoor activities, Hattori-san, everyday is a good day for a walk. Who knows what you'll find? Where's your sense of adventure?" Kaito said, out stretching his arm and splaying his fingers against the air as if laying out all the possibilities before him. His good cheer was back, all he had to do was not think about .... hordes of ...it flopping about in the rain.

The imagery was very vivid and he almost threw up before he banished the thought again.

"I was practicing!" Kaito said, coming back to a topic he could easily over ride the picture in his brain with. He gulped down the rest of the water before poofing it out for a deck of cards- it was different than the one he had brought out of the room, that deck was in a inner pocket. This deck had been somewhere more accessible.

"Fancy a game of cards, Hattori-san?" Kaito asked, winking and panning the cards out with ease- he would have to go back to the kitchen later to put the cup he had vanished to one of his numerous pockets back in its rightful place, but that when was not now.

Heiji quirked an eyebrow when he saw Kaito's reaction to the word fish. He seemed to get extremely nervous and his pale skin got even paler. Heiji chuckled a little bit, his ribs giving a small twinge of pain. He wrapped an arm around his chest in a futile attempt to stop the torn muscles from their spasms.

"I think, 'm gonna heal before the next sense of adventure hits me." Heiji replied his smirk never faltering even as Kaito performed his little magic trick with the glass of water and cards. Although his eyes did get a small spark in them as he tried to figure out how the trick was done. But it quickly disappeared when the magician offered a card game.

"Sounds good! Anything ta keep my brain cells alive. There's a coffee table in the lounge we can play on." The Osakan suggested before turning around to head back into the lounge he had just come out of. "What game ya wanna play Kuroba?"

Kaito frowned as Hattori-san snaked an arm around his own chest, wondering if the guy hurt- The smirk didn't drop and he didn't skip a beat, however, so Kaito assumed he was just cold. Or the guy just was... durable. Kaito quirked a grin at the imagery that ensued.

"Boring, Hattori-san." Kaito deadpanned, sticking a hand in his pocket, water glass still in hand. "Don't you know Adventure and Perils are to be had even in the face of physical misfortune?" He said, and nearly laughed as he performed the trick, watching Heiji's eyes try to figure out what he was doing- Detectives, the whole lot, they were amusingly predictable.

It didn't take a moments thought to answer that question- "Poker!" Kaito said cheerfully, folding up the cards again and twisting it around in various flourishes. Or they could play a common board game, if the house had any, he didn't care, he could totally win.

"Unless you wanted to play a different game- Say, Heiji-san, it's dreadful and deary today- lets hold a game night!"

The Osakan stopped for a moment and looked back towards the magician. Poker, that sounded fun but it would be nicer with more people. At least with that chance Heiji wouldn't end up losing horribly. Heiji may have a care-free smile most of the time especially during cases but when it came to cards and competition he let his emotions slip a bit too much.

"Poker sounds fun, with more people." Heiji announced to the other and he began to wonder who to call over that would make things interesting. Kudo of course if he was able to. Maybe Ran? But then again with how Kuroba could be around women he didn't know if it was a good idea. "Who ta invite over?"

Not to mention that but they would most likely need to get snacks as well and a couple drinks to tide them over. Would anyone want to travel in this weather for a game night?

"Also what about snacks? And besides poker what else would we play?"

More people, of course, more people! Two's company, three's a crowd, but even more was splendid partying; the term less is more was an abhorrent falsity to him when negotiations for a party was on the metaphorical line.

"Yukiko-san, for sure..." And Okiya-san and Aoko too,the perpetually perplexing residents of this home; Okiya-san being an curious unknown and Aoko-- just why was she here again? Worry, he got, but to stay here with him? The void that must be inside her head was incomprehensible. Where were they, anyway? Maybe'd they'd gone out? Napping? Aoko hadn't come knocking at his door with a demand to go out or with a request for company for the past few minutes, checking her room was a wise idea but if she was sleeping... Premature awakening was a waking nightmare.

(And yes, he knew his mom was in the house. No, he wasn't going to even consider her.)

"Conan-kun and Ran-san, maybe even Kogoro-san, for starters." and the rain wasn't an excuse for not coming, they would be coming whether they liked it or not, they'd fared worse. The whole kidnapping fiasco was a testament to that; the impressive amount of physical injury they'd oh-so-casually withstood; surely they could lug themselves over some rain.

Kogoro-san probably preferred to go out and get smashed, though, the drunk he was. Did he even participate in the kidnapping, anyway? His details are foggy on that.

Speaking of the kidnapping, however. The news had been relayed to him some time ago, and he had sewed the details shut with his own observations, the call Hattori had made that day now startlingly and lucidly clear. No wonder he had wanted Yukiko-san out of the house, though Kaito was still just a bit miffed that Hattori had not confided in him the whys and whats of the situation at that moment in time; detectives were stupidly secretive, just to showboat later with their deductions.

They were similar, that way, even him and...

How had that British bastard gotten wound up in this fiasco, anyway? He was supposed to be overseas or something of that sort; Kaito made an irritated sound at the back of his throat, lips tightening in a profoundly obvious lack of amusement. "Anyone involved with that kidnapping case, I guess. Satou and Takagi-keiji..." He's not going to mention the other detective's name out loud, but it should be clear with how he was trailing off.

Geez. He comes over to see something new and here he was, surrounded by old faces, so dreadfully routine.

"They all need to wind down and being cooped up for 4 days with injuries are no fun. Even Kudo-san, I suppose, he's in the house right now, right? Maybe we can even invite Haibara-san and Agasa-hakase from next door~" Though his first contact with the little scientist in his civilian persona had been a trade of scathingly caustic remarks, the sarcastic little thing.

"Mmmh, snacks, we should go buy some, we can pick up Ran-san and Edogawa-kun while we're at it? Or text them... we should go tell Yukiko-san that we're holding this, I don't think she'd be opposed? Maybe we won't even have to go out, we can check the pantry."

And of course the first thought outside poker is-- "Uno!" of all games. "Or Twister, are there any board games in the house?"

Kaito's voice did a good job drowning the sound of hushed rain from outside as he went on listing people that could come over. Kudo was on the list along with Ran and Kogoro. He wasn't sure about the last of those three but it would be nice to see how Kudo was healing up and a night with everyone could probably cheer Ran up a bit.

When Kaito talked about snacks though it brought Heiji to a stop. Snacks were a big apart of any game night but to be honest with the deluge outside and his injuries Heiji didn't really want to go anywhere. But if others where coming maybe they could bring snacks?

"Let me give Nee-chan a call. They can pick up snacks." He mentioned. "As fer Yukiko-han, Satou and Takagi-keiji I don't really have a way ta contact them. O' course Yukiko-han might be home?"

He hadn't ran into the woman when he came down earlier, but she could be doing who knows what in such a big house and Heiji probably wouldn't have notice. He wasn't very perspective at the moment due to his injuries.

"If she is we can ask what kinda games they might have here. I wouldn't be surprised if they had Cluedo." He added with a laugh. "Let me go see if she's home before we start invitin people over."

Leaving on that the Osakan took to the stairs, huffing a bit when he took them two at a time that agitated his injuries a bit.

"Yukiko-han!" He called out cheerfully.
"Osaka-ben is perfectly fine japanese."

Mehhh he hadn't quite gotten an idea of how hurt they were from the case; he wondered if tasking them to buy snacks were a good idea... if anything, maybe Ran-san could bother Mouri-san about it? Get him to buy some, from his memories, he really hadn't done much in way of getting Edogawa-kun out safely from the mess that was the kidnapping case.

"Awesome~ I'll get on the phone then!" And just like that, his cell phone is suddenly in his hands despite it not being anywhere near his pocket any moments ago, his fingers already scrolling the contacts list. "I'm sure Edogawa-kun has their numbers, he seems to work with them often... or Mouri-san, at least. And I have Yukiko-san's number, but I doubt that she went out... maybe? Yeah, pretty sure she's home."

He looks up and pauses in his scrolling when Hattori says that he'll check if she's home; right, permission to even hold that game night, that had been a thing on his to-do list, how had he forgotten about it again?

"Oh no, Cluedo." Kaito deadpanned, rolling his eyes. "Of course. A respectable detective house wouldn't be caught dead without it. What was I thinking."

An eyebrow raised is the only sign of concern at the other's health; taking steps two at a time already? Well, if he felt up for it, he wasn't going to stop him but wow. Kaito sighed and reached for the glass he had made disappear earlier, deciding to pop into his room to leave it there (it had been getting uncomfortable, against his back, he had been afraid that it would slide out).

Speaking of, wouldn't his mom... Well, the last time he had left his room, he had been alone, but well. He really does hope she's out somewhere busy or something; he'd drop off the glass in his room and follow after Hattori, if nothing held him up.
